What is it?
The Wizard is a program that allows you to play assessments against other real people over the internet. If no human players are available to play against, our server will create a computer controlled 'Bot' for you to play against. The questions are taken at random from the other assessments provided. We hope you find the Wizard Game adds a fun element that helps with your revision. We recommend you take the single assessments (normally 50 questions) prior to using the Wizard Game (or the short assessments) and use this as a final revision tool.
How do I play?
Where the Wizard Game is part of your assessment package you will see an image called "Multi-player/Play Wizard Game" after clicking on the "Your Training" link. Click on the image to play a game.
What are the rules?
- You are provided with a set number of credits (normally 25) with one game play using up one credit. Any remaining credits are lost at the end of your access period and CANNOT be transferred to other accounts.
- If you beat all the other players and have a score above 80% you will be given an extra wizard credit.
- If you beat all the other players and have a score lower than 80% your credit balance will not change.
- If you lose a game, you will lose a single credit.
- You can join a game in progress, this will not affect your credits.
- If you quit a game in progress, you will lose a credit no matter how well you were doing.
Why won't it work?
If you see nothing at all while trying to run the wizard, please make sure you have a version of the Java Virtual Machine running on your web browser. You can download this from http://java.sun.com
If you are experiencing connection problems with the Wizard, it may be down to a firewall running on your system. If you are in an office you can ask the IT department to open port 81, which may help.
Personal firewall programs such as Norton Internet Security, or a built-in firewall in your broadband router may also cause a refused connection - please check the documentation on your software or hardware for instructions on how to enable access to port 81. |
